Executive meeting, January 18, 2008 5pm, L001
Attendance: President: Stacey Costabile Vice President: Virginia Vought Activities Chair: Sarah Morrison Secretary: Rebekah Kati Treasurer: Janet Anderson Webmaster: Eyad Makki Advisors: Mary Popp Tom Nisonger
Officer Reports:Social chair: - Talked to History dept social chairs
- Their upcoming activities include a potluck and happy hour
- ALASC might do a movie night with them
- Should check the University’s rules on copyright
- Survey results
- Travel coffee mugs were popular
- Stats from the survey may be published in the newsletter
- Top activities – happy hour, bowling
- Other suggestions – outdoor activities (hiking)
- February social event – movie night (2/21)
- Venue - Grad Pad at the Union
- Movie - “The Librarian”
- PLG does their movie night every month, be sure not to conflict
- Bloomington Playwrights Project
- Discount $5 per person minimum of 15 people
Treasurer:- Fundraising
- Minimums on items mean that ALASC will spend at least $500 for one product
- Focus on tote bags and travel mugs
- Janet will look into better prices and perhaps a local supplier for the tote bags
- Have items available after Spring Break
- Tara is willing to make buttons
- ALASC will provide materials and compensate Tara for her time
- Other fundraising ideas
- Book sale/garage sale
- InULA does a book sale in the spring, should try not to conflict
- ALASC book sale in previous fall semester was successful
- Men of SLIS calendar
Vice President: Monthly general meeting - General membership is in favor of a rotated schedule
- Could have meetings in a different place or the SLIS lounge if there are room issues
- 5 pm is ok
- February – specific date will be decided by the availability of the speakers during the week of February 25th
- Hand out agenda for general membership
- Eboard should think of interactive activities for members to do at the meeting
