Officer Reports: President: - Have one to two exec board members at the fall orientation meeting
- Current Balance: $763
- Library Week activities were a hit
- Summer activity ideas that don’t cost a lot of money
- University pool
- Ryder film series
- Meet up like Nicks
- Certificates for May graduates
- Get some blanks from Staples or office depot
- Yogis – May 1, 5:30 in the back room
- Budget - $60-75 for appetizers
- Start advertising on Facebook and the listserv ASAP
- Have flyers up by next week
- Take pictures of graduates with the Slizzard
- April General Meeting

- Format:
- Overview of why we decided to have this panel (Sarah)
- Introductions
- Have speakers talk about what they do

- Division of food has not been finalized

Vice President - Digital information literacy contest

- Proposed by Daniel Pointer to the IU instruction librarians
- Instruction committee interested in doing a pilot study, want ALAs help
- Implemented at Purdue, has been successful
- Format:
- Students have 30 minutes to answer 75 questions using the internet.
- Screen capture software is used to figure out what participants are doing right and wrong.
- Prizes for most correct questions.
- Geared towards undergrads
- ALA would put it together and host it
- Pointer has a packet that would help us get started marketing
- Library will try to find prizes to donate, but we would have to raise extras
- Usually have pizza afterwards
- Earliest that we could do it would be early November
- Get a committee together

- Have current Slizzards send in advice for new students over the listserv

- Do you use print reference books or internet reference sources?
- What is your opinion of the commercial reference market?
- What would you consider to be a typical reference question?
- What sort of problems do you have with patrons and how do you deal with them?
- What is the silliest question you’ve gotten?
- How important is the reference interview?
- How does the reference department interact with other departments?
- How important are non-verbal cues to the reference interview? How do you adjust if you cannot use non-verbal cues?
- What do you think about the future job market for reference librarians?
